My obsession with Hoarding MS-DOS Text Books
Okay, I do not have an obsession with hoarding, hoarding is in itself a form of obsession (I think). But have been hoarding a bunch of MS-DOS programming text books, why? it's for graphics programming reasons.
I have tried getting into graphics programming for the past few months, for creative reasons, and so far I have found the act of making a modern game engine very overwhelming, at least for me it is. So I have made some effort to learn how to draw pixels on retro devices, the funny thing is that, it is surprisingly easy on these retro systems thanks to the hard work of a bunch of really smart people. The documentation and tools provided are a God-send, and I am very grateful for all the resources.
I have found modern graphics programming to be "too much" for me, I could just be really stupid or lazy but I do not get any motivation from writing multiple lines of code, in the hundreds, just for a single triangle 😭. I can do this with less lines on the Playstation one.
I guess as computers become more complex, the more tedious writing software for it becomes. Ah vulkan, I don't think I would ever make anything with it, sometimes just looking at it makes me very anxious.
So, I have decided to tackle the task of making some visuals on the MS-DOS, and it's a much simpler system so it should be easier to digest and lean thanks to the various resources out there and text books for them.
Thank you for listening to me speak out of my ass about a topic I don't really know too much about.
Kenneth.
