The Lady In Red......

'The Lady In Red' by Chris de Burgh is a special song to me, it's the only song that makes me emotional and teary eyed, not because of what the song is about but it's because of what it reminds me of.

Anytime I hear that song, it reminds me of 11 year old Kenneth (me) sitting at the back of the car and resting his head on the car window, hoping to not make it to school. The song doesn't make me yearn for "the simple times" I am not old enough to be doing that yet (I am just 23), my dad would play this song every time, every morning, whenever he would take me and my siblings to school. I hated school at the time, didn't have friends and the teachers didn't really like me, at least that's how I saw it, so I never looked forward to going to school. That's why I liked the fact that my birthday took place during the summer break, I didn't have to really celebrate it with anyone.

This song always distracted me for a little bit, before I had to resume dreading about school, and it's a very beautiful song. I love it.

It makes me feel bittersweet, it takes me back to a period in my life that I would normally never wish to go back to, I don't know why but it also feels soothing and hopeful.

Thank you for listening to another one of my rambles, and I hope you have a nice evening.

Kenneth.
